A look at LUPTS fashions through the eras.

The 'jacket and tie' era (apart from the radical in the cravat):

Pictured at Speke Airport on one of the earliest LUPTS trips (18 June 1959) are, from left to right, Alan Richardson, Peter Stoddart, Martin Jenkins, Frank Atherley, Chris Bennett, Neil Cossons, Phil Fanning, Jerome McWatt.

Sadly, Jerome McWatt died in 1977 and Phil Fanning in 1996.   An obituary tribute to Jerome by Martin Jenkins appears in Terry Martin's Liverpool Corporation Tramways 1937-1957 part two, published by the MTPS

The makers of the Online Video series of tapes would like to get in touch with Alan Richardson, who took 9.5mm films whilst a LUPTS member.   Please advise the webmaster if you have knowledge of Alan's whereabouts.

The 'Manfred Mann lookalike' era:

An occasional Wednesday afternoon event was a brake van trip.   On 2 June 1970, the LUPTS party pose in front of D7648 which had just arrived at Huskisson goods depot.   It is believed that this was the first outing for the LUPTS TOUR headboard which is still used during the annual bus tour weekend.

Included in the 1970 group are: Tom White, Ray Shill, Alan Atkinson, Peter Eastham, Roger Hepworth, Chris Abbott and Alan Murray-Rust.

The 'parker era' (not to mention the 'Parker era'):

Aboard 'Teal' on Windermere on 13 June 1981, from right to left are: Andy Babbs, Helen Corlett, Dave Cope, Dave Parker, Dave Lockyer, Paul Desmet (partially obscured), John Robertson, Jonathan Cadwallader, Robert Norledge (whatever happened to him?) and Jean Atkinson.   Beyond that, Alan Atkinson puts his head in his hands, having been caught with another set of fashion victims, 11 years after the above.
